お米は店頭に戻ってきたようでやや安心ですが、未来の炭水化物の摂取を考えると、たくさんある穀物の地理的分布やそれぞれの特色が気になります。先週、英国の大学（Univ. YorkとUniv. Cambridge, McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research）が日本の縄文土器・弥生式土器の穀物の痕跡を解析して、コメとキビが大陸からほぼ同時に入ってきたが、キビは定着せず、調理の内容としてはそれ以前の漁撈・採集社会からの変革もほとんど起こらなかった、という論文を出しています。

Encounter Projectという研究プロジェクトのようです。なぜ日本が対象？という疑問を持ちますが、下記にあるように縄文→弥生が民族流入を伴っている(“encounter”＝遭遇)こと、良く保存された土器があることに目を付けたのかもしれません。国立奈良文化財研究所が研究協力者として入っていて、EUから予算をとっているようです。面白いですね。
