金曜日の読書・阮籍は詩のほかにもいくつも文章を書いています。いくつか見ていきましょう。「大人先生伝」というのが有名で、なかなか味があります。日本語訳がないので漢文をchatGPTに入力して「日本語に訳して」と言ったら解説付きで正確に訳してくれたのは驚きました。おそらく現代中国語の解説書があってそれを取り込んでいるのでしょう。
話としては大人先生という仙人＝スーパーマンが一般人一人とと2人の隠者と会話するおとぎ話です。短いですがちょっとニーチェのツァラツストラの雰囲気があります。漢文は飛ばして、英語で見ていきましょう。英訳本では題名は”The Great Master’s Transmission”になっています。transmissionは「伝」と訳すところでしょうか。
“The Great Master is an elderly man.” 大人先生は老人である。
“He speaks of the beginning of Heaven and Earth, recounting the tales of Shen Nong (神農) and the Yellow Emperor (黄帝), clearly and distinctly. No one knows his year of birth.” 神話時代のことを明瞭に話すことができ、年齢不詳である。
“Those who admired him did not understand, and those without understanding found him strange. Yet, the Master was not bothered by the world’s incomprehension, nor did he alter his purpose because of it.” 世間から理解されなくても気にしなかったし、世間うけを狙って目的を変えることもなかった。
“Instead, he sought the strange and unusual, exploring places unseen by the world, wandering aimlessly without a destination.” 大人先生は目的も目的地もなく、珍しい普通でないものを探してまだ誰も見たことのない土地を探検した。 ※たしかに、理想的な生き方として共感できます（寿命が非常に長いという条件つきですが）。
“Once, a letter was left for the Great Master, stating:” 以下のようなファンレターを受け取った（一般人（chatGPTによるとエリート）とのやりとり）。
“The most esteemed thing in the world is the noble gentleman(君子): one whose attire（ア「タ」イア 服装）is of a consistent color（変な色ではない 原文は常色）, …. He serves his king（王に仕え）, cares for the people, manages his household(家政), educate his children, and establishes a prosperous home(繫栄した家庭を築き）, seeking fortune （富を求め）and avoiding calamity（カ「ら」ミティ 災厄を避ける）. “
“Now, the Master, with disheveled hair (振り乱した髪)、resides in the vast ocean（大海に住み）, far from gentleman like yourself（あなたらしい君子からは程遠い).I fear the world will lament（ら「メ」ント 嘆く） the Master and not understand him. … He lives in hardship, yet his conduct is mocked by society; I would not choose to follow the Master in this.” 困難な生き方をして、世間の笑いものにされるのは、私にはとてもお手本にすることはできません。
