マーリン(Merlin)の解説をします。Wikipedia によると12世紀の偽史に登場する実在しない魔術師のようですが、AIの商品名や会社名などとしてよく使われます。ハリー・ポッターでは「マーリン勲章」というのが出てきます。チューダー朝初代のヘンリー７世(1457-1509)が自分がマーリンの予言に出てくるとして新王朝の正当化に使ったため広まったと言われています。モデルはいるそうです。偽史の作者が伝説に残るローマ系ブリトン人の将軍（437ADごろ戦って生き残った）とウェールズの隠者（540AD頃出生）を組み合わせて創作したということです。
マーリンの魔術としては予言が主のようです。未来から過去に向かって生きて予言を行ったと言われていますが、どういうことかよくわかりません。そこからの連想で、1994年にコーチングのキャッチフレーズ(The Merlin Factor)が提唱されたのを見つけました。
問題が発生している現在において、未来の大使として行動することにより画期的かつ達成可能なビジョンをもたらすリーダーシップのあり方、とのことです。精神論としては面白いですが、現実的な処方箋にはならないでしょうね。
