今年も暑い夏が長く続きました。紅葉がきれいですが、雪は例年よりも早く降りそうで（すでに初雪）、秋は短いと思われます。気候関係で、今週はCO2回収に関する動きを紹介しましょう。米国のBreakthrough Energy という団体は、Microsoft 創業者のBill Gatesが設立・支援しており、気候変動対策に関する調査研究や提言を行っています。

米国エネルギー省が1.8B$=2700億円規模で大規模に建設を助成している直接CO2大気回収(direct air capture, DAC)について、需要不足のため失速が懸念されるので対策が必要、という提言を出しました。Microsoftと航空会社だけが回収されたCO2を購入しているそうなので（いまのところ貯蔵設備に保存するだけ）、ちょっと我田引水のような気がする提言です。
