先週は航空機の２大メーカーについて調べて自分では楽しかったので、今週はコンピュータのCPUのメーカーを見てみましょう。２大メーカーはIntelとAMDです。一部Arm関連やNVIDIAに言及することもあると思います。
Intelの株価は最近すごく下がっています（泣）。長期的にみると70ドル～20ドルの上下があり、最近は底値か、これからまだ下がるのか、といったところですね。

CPUのシェアはAMDに猛追されましたが、下げ止まっています。Intel:AMD=2:1くらいです。

一方、AMDの株価は変動はありますが上昇しています。2015年くらいに買っていれば約100倍です（泣）。

最近までCPUは数万円～１０数万円というのが当たり前でした。最近は価格の幅が大きくなっています。コア数が多い高級品は1個で173万円というのもあります。
AMDは高級品を攻めていますね。高度計算用はIntelのXeonプロセッサが定番でしたが、現在のラインナップにはAMD threadripper最上位機種の対抗製品はないようです（後記；2024年6月に発表、一般への市販はまだ）。
最近、IntelのCeleronの後継であるN100やN95を使った格安ミニパソコン（2万円台）が出ていて、装置制御や単スレッドの長時間の計算にはそこそこ使えるので個人的にも複数買っています。N100 CPU単体の価格は見つけられませんが、数千円台ではないかと思います。ソケットではなくてマザーボードに直（じか）にはんだ付けして売っているように見えます。Intelは格安のほうに振っている感じです。
安いのはユーザーとしてはありがたいのですが、ビジネス戦略として、あまり安い製品を出すと儲けが出なくなるが大丈夫か？という疑問を持ちます。なぜこんなことをしているのでしょうか。
