金曜日の読書は今日から新しい本です。”The Knowledge Creating Company” by I. Nonaka and H. Takeuchi (訳書 「知識創造企業」）を3か月くらいかけて読んでいこうと思います。昔読んだ「失敗の本質 － 日本軍の組織的研究」を読もうと思ったのですが英訳が見つからず、同じ著者の本を探していたらこれを見つけました。1995年刊で、続編が2019年に出ています。
著者2人は日本の企業を辞めてUC BerkleyでphDを取った一橋大学の先生で、英語で書いています。私も英語で教科書を書いてみたいと思っていますが、日常に追われて苦労しています（執筆には2時間くらいの単位でまとまった時間を捻出しないと先に進みません）。参考にして刺激を受けたいと思いこれを選びました。
この2冊はビジネススクール（経営学大学院）の教材のような本で、各約500ページ。日本の会社の開発の成功例から暗黙知を形式知に変えて開発を成功させる方法論を体系化しようと試みています。いまのDX(データ利用による業務刷新)の流れに使えるところがないかという問題意識で読もうと思います。できれば続編もあわせて3か月くらいで片づけたいです。
8章構成です。序章は、本書の成り立ちと目的を説明していますが、1995年は日本がバブル崩壊で苦労しているときの出版なので、それでも日本の事例は参考になるんだ、と言い訳も書いています。1章はホンダ・シティがトップの「冒険しよう」という掛け声で始まった若手のプロジェクトが成功した例（背の高いコンパクトカーの最初のもの）として取り上げられています。また、この本で何をやろうとしているのかの道筋が書いてあります。
英文は、経営学用語や哲学用語が出てきますが、文章に流れと力がありさすがです。
