今週の世界の研究所は、英国の安全保障シンクタンク The Royal United Service Institute for Defense and Security (RUSI、英国王立防衛安全保障研究所) を取り上げます。ここはウクライナ-ロシア関係で情報源としてよくニュースに登場していましたが、イスラエル-ハマス関係でも情報を発信しています。1831年に設立された、この種のものとしては世界最古のシンクタンクとされています。

現所長はケント公爵（故エリザベス女王のいとこ、陸軍元帥 Field Marshal）。公開されている所員・スタッフ（兼任の大学教授等も含む）は464名です。日本にも支所があるようです。女性がかなり多い印象です。2015年からDirector General (総本部長？)はアメリカ人の女性なのも興味深いです。

面白いのは、webのurlが www.rusi.orgで、.ukがついていないことですが、おそらく軍事用途からはじまったインターネットの開発初期からかかわっていたためではないかと考えられます。
