ついに雪の季節がやってきました。今週の百人一首は、雪や寒そうな情景を表したものを探します。検索にはまとまったサイトが便利です。下記を参照しています。

寒い情景の歌は前半と最後に配置されています。藤原定家による緻密な構成であると言われていますので、いろいろ考えると面白いです。

I’ll abide by your decision. 君の決定に従うよ。 by が難しいですね。abide byで覚えるのがよさそうです。We must abide by the law. 法律には従わねばならない。

次回から現代の本(You are not listening)に行きますので、あと２つ見てみましょう。800年前の詩ですが、いいと思いました。84は年齢が上がればわかると思います。88を「不完全な状況だからこそ、情熱を燃やそうではないか！」と隠喩(metaphor)として読むのは「超訳」すぎでしょうか。
