今週の世界の研究所は、トルコの世界遺産カッパドキアに関する研究所を紹介します。ギリシャとトルコに2つあるようです。

2つある理由はおそらく1923年～の二国間住民交換がかかわっています。複雑な歴史を持つ隣同士の国で、単一民族化を図るために計200万人の両国住民を強制的に移住させたとのこと（一部は第一次大戦とその後のギリシャ・トルコ（希土）戦争の混乱で自発的に移住）。「難民の父」ナンセンがリーダーシップをとったそうです。たいへんな苦労や損失があったと思いますが、100年近くたって、外から見た限りでは落ち着いていると言えるのではないでしょうか。カッパドキアの文化的側面は長年住んでいた住民の子孫がいるギリシャが、現地はトルコが担当しているのではないかと思います。ギリシャの研究所・博物館からの現地ツアーもあるそうなので、協力関係にあるのだと推測します。
