今週の世界の研究所は、米国平和研究所 (United States Institute of Peace, USIP)をとりあげます。いろいろ心が痛むニュースがある中で、社会を良くするために少しでも役立ちたいものです。

ここは国立(American federal）の研究所で、1984年レーガン政権のときに設立されました。年間予算は40億円強、職員300人です。研究の他に外交や交渉の訓練をしており、wikipediaによると設立以来65000人を訓練したとのことなので、年200人弱ですね。運営会議には軍の幹部もはいっています。昨今の情勢を見ると完全に成功しているわけではないようですが、確かに必要な機関ですね。webで紛争地の和平交渉のオンラインゲームも提供しているようですが、アカウントを作る必要があるようです。

federal 連邦の アメリカでは州を超えた「国立」を表します。
