今週の世界の研究所は、ニュージーランドの政府系の研究所 Scion を取り上げます。

ニュージーランドの政府系研究機関はCrown Research Instituteとして統合され会社組織で運営されていて、Scionはその一部で第一次産業や気候変動、生物工学の科学研究を行う組織のようです。ニュージーランドは人口は500万人弱、北海道くらいですね。面積は27万平方キロで、日本の3/4。林業が盛んなので、Scionはドローンを使った森林管理の研究もしています。
