Meta Platform Inc. (旧facebook)は、多くの会社をM&A (merger and acquisition 企業買収・合併）してSNSのプラットフォームを集約しました。さらにハードウェアの会社も買っています。M&Aのリストがwikipediaの項目になっていますが、91社です。

Zuckerberg stated in 2010, “We have not once bought a company for the company. We buy companies to get excellent people…” 「会社（ベンチャー）ごと才能ある従業員を買うtalent acquisition」だそうです。
それだけお金があるということなので、財務を見てみるとこれもすごいです。年間売り上げは8兆円越、利益率が下記です。

gross profit margin が売り上げから原価を引いた粗利益率で、IT企業の特長ですが、80％程度と非常に高いです。一つソフトやシステムを作ってしまえばコピーで増やせるので原価がかかりません（サーバー代は増えますが、微々たるものなのでしょう）。net profit marginが税金や営業外活動（研究開発や買収など？）を含めた後の利益率ですが、それでも20～30％あります。
売上（広告料）は1年で35％増えたそうですが、ユーザーが増えなくなっている懸念があるとのことです。

広告料が増えるということは、効果があると広告主が判断しているということでしょう。その分、個人を狙い撃ちできないテレビ向け等が減っているのでしょう。日本でもテレビ局のリストラの話がでていますね。
M&Aリストを見ると”metaverse”にどのようなハードウェアが使われるかわかると思うので、明日考えてみましょう。
