今週の「武士道」は、最終17章「武士道の将来 The future of Bushido」の末尾です。大尾（たいび）は本などの終わりを指す古い言葉です。
… Bushido as an independent code of ethics may vanish, but its power will not perish from the earth; its schools of material prowess or civic honor may be demolished, but its light and its glory will long survive their ruins. Like its symbolic flower, after it is blown to the four winds, it will still bless mankind with perfume with which it will enrich life. Ages after, when its customaries shall have been buried and its very name forgotten, its odors will come floating in the air as from a far-off unseen hill, “the wayside gaze beyond”; then in the beautiful language of the Quaker poet:
The traveler owns the grateful sense
Of sweetness near he knows not whence,
And, pausing, takes with forehead bare
The benediction of the air.
（解説）最後の詩につながるように作ってある文章ですね。この詩で締めようという構想があったのでしょう。この本の文章は緻密に構成されていて、交響曲のようです。特に最終章はそうです。小説家修行にはよい文章を書き写す方法もあるとのことですが、この本はやってもいいですね。

金曜日の読書は、今回でいったん「武士道」を離れます。次の本は、企業会計関連を考えていて、うまくwebの情報と英語の本がリンクする方向性を探しているところです。いくつか本は入手したのですが、まだぴったり来ないので、つなぎに別の題材にするかもしれません。
※おかげさまで機械学習の集中講義は無事終了しました（最後は当日朝からプログラムとスライドを作っていて、開始30分前(16:00)にようやく納得するものになりました）。来週の集中講義は新ネタではないのでだいぶ楽なはず…です。
