今週の孫子は、第12章 火攻篇からです。怒りの感情に任せて戦うと取り返しがつかないことになる、と言っています。
怒りの制御法についてはセネカ（Lucius Annaeus Seneca;BC1-AD65）をはじめ多くの哲学者が取り上げています。

最近の本では「ヤクザ式 相手を制す最強の「怒り方」 (光文社新書) 」向谷匡史著 が面白いと思いました。怒りを抑えつけるのではなく、頭を使って溜飲を下げながら自分の利益に結び付ける方法が解説されています。親しい間でやると角がたちますが、ビジネスの交渉では有効かもしれません。
「主不可以怒而興師、将不可以惶而致戦。合於利而動、不合於利而止。怒可以復喜、愷可以復悦、亡国不可以復存、死者不可以復生。故明君慎之、良将警之。此安国全軍之道也。」

gratify 喜ばせる、満足させる
spleen 脾臓 西洋では怒りを作る臓器と思われていました。実際は免疫やくたびれた赤血球の破壊等を担っていますね。
pique ピーク (特に自尊心を傷つけられての)立腹、不興、不機嫌
gladness 喜び
enlightened ruler 明君 の訳ですね。
enlighten 啓蒙する
vexation いまいましさ、腹立たしさ 動詞はvex ヴェクス、いらだたせる
content 多義語で、「容量」「内容」、contentsで「目次」の意味もありますが（アクセントは前）、ここは「満足」。この意味では、動詞「満足させる」も不可算名詞「満足」もアクセントが後ろに来ます。

intact 無傷の、完全な、手を付けられていない タにアクセント

「悪の第一の原因への対抗法の番である。怒りは、自分が傷つけられたと思うことで生じる。したがって、安易にそのように考えるべきではない。」さすが、いいこと言っていませんか？文語のentertained に注意です。
