フランスで暴動が起こっているようです。今週の世界の研究所は、フランスから、Inistitut National de Recherce en Informatique et en Automatique (INRIA; 国立情報学自動制御研究所）をとりあげます。

ここは、1979年設立、国内8か所に分散、3000人以上の職員、研究省と経済・財務省の共同管轄とのことで、日本にはないタイプの研究所ですね(日本だと総務省の通信総研がありますが、ずっと小さい。産総研の一部もソフトウェアやロボットを扱っています）。年間予算1.6億ユーロ＝250億円の20%は自ら稼いでいるようです。いくつか有名なソフトウェア(Scilabなど)の開発母体となっています。
今週は、INRIAが開発している数学の証明支援システムCoqを中心に、数学や論理学とAIの関係を見ていきましょう。
