金曜日の読書You are not listening は13章（Hammers, Anvils, Stirrups -Turning sound waves to brain waves)、14章(Addicted to Distraction)です。
13章で面白かったのは、右耳で聞いた方が情報処理能力が発揮され理解が速いという実験結果です。知りませんでした。神経のつながり方のため、脳の左側にあるウェルニケ野に近いためだとのことです。騒音のある環境では自然と右耳を話者に近づけるそうです。ここまでは実験事実です。反対に、感情をつかみやすいのは左の耳だとのこと。奥さんが怒っているかどうかを電話で確認するときは左耳で電話を聞くべきで、左利きの場合は逆にせよと書いてあります。これは証拠はカリスマモデレータの経験と書いてあるので完全に信用できるかわかりません。どっちの耳で聞くかを意識してみると面白いですね。
14章は、モバイルの発達による気がそれることの弊害です。マイクロソフトの研究で、最近、注意を保つ時間が12秒から8秒に減少したということです。シカゴの喜劇劇場も演題を15分から5分に短くしたとのこと。
