金曜日は本を読んでいくことにしていて、企業会計は一段落したので、今週から禅の公案を100個集めた「碧巖録」にしようと思っていたのですが、難しすぎて準備が間に合いません。もしかすると本を変えるかもしれません。もう一つの候補はMichael Sandel の Justice (しばらく前に流行ったHarvardの「正義」の講義）です。

中国の仏教書で、宋代の1125年に成立しました。道元が日本に持ち帰って広めたとのことです。なぜかハンガリーの輸入家具店のweb siteに解説まで訳した英訳(blue Cliff Record) の pdf があるのですが、著作権がどうなっているのか要確認です。紹介するからには正規のルートで入手したいです。
「一段落した」の英訳は下記です。やはり訳しにくいですね。

Koan 公案は英語にそのままなっています。明治後、日本から欧米に布教されたためと思います。

On the night before his planned return to Japan, Dogen（道元） came across （出会った）the Blue Cliff Record for the first time, and stayed up all night （徹夜で） making a handwritten copy of the book（筆写した）. Given the size of the book（この本の長さを考えると）, this story is most likely apocryphal.
